In this two-hour workshop, Diana will show you how to infuse passion into your story and make your audience care, identify your protagonists deep driving desire, shape the well-told story, and teach you how to use events to create pacing, tension, and drive. You will also learn how to write an economical scene, while keeping the screenplay at its highest-gauge power.
Amsterdam has optioned screenplays to the BBC, Working Title and producers Jodie Burke, Dan Lupovitz, Jon Finn and Eoin O’Callaghan. Her screenplay The Other Woman won first prize in New York Women in Film and Television’s 25th Anniversary Screenplay Contest. Currently, Rich Girl Bad Boy is under option to producer John E. Ferraro, former exec at Paramount Pictures. Amsterdam just completed the pilot episode for a new TV sitcom produced by Too Many Joes LLC. Her plays are published by Samuel French, Broadway Play Publishing, Playscripts, St. Martins Press and Smith and Kraus, and produced worldwide. Amsterdam is a New York State Council on the Arts grant recipient and winner of commissions from the BBC and MCC among others. She lives in Brooklyn and makes her living as a writer.
